BB9 Grade Book Error

with 2 comments

Well the Blackboard bed bugs are at it again, this time in the grade center. Fortunately, we have a simple cure for this particular problem.

Problem: When you go into the full grade center, the grade book will be replaced by the error message:

     errorParsingDataMsg

TypeError: Unable to get value of the property ‘blank’: object is null or undefined

Fix: To fix this message you should still be able to see the Grade Center Buttons, Create Column, Create Calculated Column, Manage, and Reports.

  • Click on the Manage Button and Column Organization.
  • In the Column Organization window click and drag a couple of the columns around and click submit.

When you return to the grade center, the grade book will reappear. After the reappearance you can go back and reorganize the columns in any order you want without making the grade book disappear.

Oh how I love simple fixes.  🙂

  1. This fix didn’t work for me. I still get a reference to a null or undefined entry in “Property 11” I’m still getting the message whenever I try to enter grades for students. It only occurs in one course. My other courses are fine. Any other fixes we can try?

    • Have you tried clearing you cache before you follow the steps in in the post. Try that and let me know. Thanks
