Blackboard Roadmap

leave a comment »

Hi Folks, I have just returned from the latest Blackboard World and wanted to report some new features and enhancements planned for this coming year.

  • Xplor – Allows you to create learning modules and opens new content to users
  • New Online Editor – the old wiziwig editor is gone. The new editor is not java based. The new editor makes it easier to edit HTML and Word documents. It will also allow you to copy stuff from the equations editor.
  • Fill in the Blank Questions more flexible
  • Created an Item analysis of each question in quizzes
  • Course evaluation has been expanded and do not need to use blackboard to use the evaluation tool. You can add evaluations across an entire institution.
  • Better performance reports
  • The Rubric tool has been improved to align goals and standards with the tool.
  • Integrated text messaging with notifications which includes a two way message bundle
  • Collaborate is integrated into Blackboard
  • Social learning integrated into Blackboard, which includes the ability to use facebook profile in BB
  • MyBlackboard is central location for discussions and etc
  • Spaces is social learning spaces to find individual students and across institutions
  • The calendar has been thrown out and new calendar created. New calendar has drag-n-drop and is integrated into assignments, quizzes, etc. Creating a due date in a tool will add it to the calendar. The new calendar also allows you to subscribe to other calendars such as outlook or google.
