Remind 101
I came across a new app that is promising for the classroom called Remind101. It is a free, safe messaging service for teachers to communicate with students without sharing personal cell phone numbers. Teachers create an account and create a class or group. The app will create a unique class identifier for students to sign up to receive text or email alerts. The Instructor only needs to give students the email or phone number with the unique identifier and the students can email or text to subscribe. Faculty only needs to open the app to send a message to the group. Messages can be sent immediately or schedules for later delivery.
This app is great for sending gentle reminders to the class about upcoming exams or class activities. It can be used on the iphone or android, or the ipad. There is a cloud component to help you organize classes and manage subscribers. Most reviews rate it 4 out of 5 stars. Check it out today at https://www.remind101.com/.
